not sure if my GPUs hdmi and dvi port work.

So i have this gtx 970 is my custom built pc which has 2 dvi,HDMI and 1 mini display port .
I have monitor in the first dvi wich works perfectly but when i plug it in the 2nd one it does not work, i also tried to plug the minitor in the hdmi port an it does not work either.
I want to get a 2nd monitor and i do not think it will work.
Do you guys think that the ports are broken or what

  1. Have you checked what input the monitors are set to use?
Did you have your computer set to output to multiple monitors?
Also try turning your monitor off and back on so that it sends the pnp message.

In re-reading your post, I may have mis-read it. I thought you were trying to get a new monitor to work in addition to the old one. In reading it a second time, it sounds as if you were trying to test with your old monitor. If this is the case, ignore that bit of advice. It relates to a setting in the same location you set your resolution. You can set new monitors to be disabled, extend your display or duplicate your display.

You may need to select the #2 DVI or HDMI port in the on-screen device type & port selection menu.
  5. Do you guys think trying to get a refund on the GPU will fix the problem?
  6. I don't think so... a GTX 970 should work. Maybe if you post the monitor(s) brand(s)and model(s), some usefull information can be found.
