Having fps issues with r9 380 in gtav

Windows 10
MSI 970 mb
FX 8350 Cpu
MSI R9 380 4G Armour x2 Gpu
16Gb Kinston ram

I have looked through a lot of threads and I am having fps issues I can not get rid of. I switched cards from and MSI Gtx 760 2 gb to the R9 and I had better fps with my old card. Right now I'm running the most updated drivers recently released this month. I have tried older drivers (catalyst drivers) but I am extremely disappointed with my card. Forgot to mention I am trying to play Gta v.

  1. When you have the issues, your CPU goes to 100% usage?

    what exactly are your fps?

with your setup you should be getting ~40 fps average I believe
  3. From me I after burner it's saying each core is around 80 to 90% usage while in the game. I used the mis gaming app to view fps while playing and It can range from 25 to 80 fps. But there is still others of stuttering and lag. When I run the benchmark in the game it sits at 18 to 25 fps tops. I've tried the clock blocker and didn't repay notice much difference. The past few times I've used the mis gaming app it actually crashed the game. Once I closed the app it starts working again

monitor cpu temp, sounds like thermal throttling

install amd overdrive, it is a good program for this
  5. I will try it out. Last time I played it sat around 50 to 60 degrees and why would it not do that with my old ggtx 760?
  6. don't use the msi gaming app, its terrible. it causes a lot of FPS drops.
  7. Ok I got rid of the Msi gaming app. I am going to replace the cooler and see if that helps with throteling. Can't hurt to have a better one anyway. I will update when cooler arrives and is installed. I appreciate the help guys!
  8. Ok so I update to the new amd driver. I put in the cooler master evo 212. So while playing gtav the game all 8 cores were utilized at 90-100% and sat at 21 degrees Celsius. The gpu was also 90-100% utilized and was at 51 degrees Celsius at its hottest. At this point should I be over clocking? I'm at a loss???

Figured it out. I disabled the power saving mode in bios. Shot my fps to 45+
