Hello, I'm currently using an XFX R9 270 Core Edition but would like to upgrade to either an MSI Geforce GTX 970 or an EVGA Geforce GTX 970. Which one do you recommend? The only thing I'm concerned about is the 3.5 gigabyte "scandal".

Specs:
RAM: 8G
CPU: FX-9590
GPU: XFX R9 Core Edition
650 MW PSU

  1. Given your processor I would recommend a 970 unless you want to change the PSU as well.
  2. The 3.5GB "scandal" is just a misinformation Nvidia did (it's bad), but it doesn't make the card worse, it's still one of the best cards considering its price, performance and power draw. I was wondering myself (for my GTX960) between the MSI Gaming and EVGA SSC ACX, ended up buying the EVGA because it was on sale the day i ordered my new GPU and i'm happy with it.
  3. For a 1080P display it is fine. For a 1440P or larger resolution you may have problems going forward.

I don't really want to go out and get a new psu, so I'll just stick with the 970, do you recommend the MSI or EVGA?

    I highly recommend MSI.
While EVGAs service is unrivaled, the MSI has a better cooler, meaning it runs cooler, quieter, and OCs better.
