AMD FX 6350 6 core overclock

I have a H100i cooler and a 6 core AMD fx 6350 stock 4.1 ghz, I clocked it to 4.9ghz once but it's been awhile and I just fail to remember what I did. I followed a guide that listed step by step with terms and numbers on what to put for volts and what not.

I appreciate any help I can get. I do understand that every computer clocks different but would appreciate just an estimate if possible.

Also running on MSI 970A g43 motherboard

More about amd 6350 core overclock
  1. Mostly just disabling APM, disable turbo boost, upping core voltage(1.45V max and only if cpu is not too hot), upping cpu multiplier, maybe use LLC to keep the cpu voltage stable under load. Generally start with a small voltage increase and only raise it if your overclock is not stable. 4.9Ghz is pretty high so you might be only able to get 4.7Ghz or so 24/7 rock solid stable. Also feel free to google an overclocking guide for you cpu and motherboard.

    Thanks for that, My computer is on 24/7 and I had it at 4.9 using a guide I an no longer find. I'm obviously not a pro at overclocking.. just at copying others with the same hardware.

    Thanks again!

    Don't push it too hard, VRM is nothing to write home about on that MB and no cooler on it.

    lol didn't mean to post that as the best solution.. but thanks for your advice.
  5. Check my computer (click on avatar), I'm able to push only 4.731 GHz for 100% stability and running 24/7 on much stronger MB. Processor is black edition with C0 stepping, they don't come much better than that. VID is steady 1,325v set manually. Tried up to 1.5v but that didn't help getting higher but stable frequencies.
  6. I found a similar guide to the one I was tlkng about. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2154887/ocing-6350.html

    FSB = 225
    HT = x12 for 2700 @ 1.25v (* Stock multi, voltage bumped up)
    NB = x11 for 2475 @ 1.150v (* Stock multi, voltage bumped up)
    RAM = x8 for 1800 @ 1.53v (* DDR3 1600 @ 1800 needed small voltage bump but timings stayed stock)
    CPU = x21.5 for 4.8375 @ 1.4375v
    CPU NB Core = 1.2875v (* CPU IMC voltage bump needed when you OC RAM. Helps with stability a lot.)
  7. I like how it spells it out above, but still have troubles finding those definitions on my MSI bios as the terms are different.

    I apologize, I'm really not good at this and understand I shouldn't be in my bios... I just learn from experience. :P
  8. Overclocking on a g43 with a water cooler on a machine that's left on 24/7 ??

    That's the recipe for a house fire mate & I'm not even exaggerating!.
    The g43 is one of the worst am3+ boards there is.

    The turbocore technology was left on if that means anything? I do shut it down in the morning for a bit, not too long though.
    I had it clocked for months and just lost it during my last windows 10 update.

    Also - what board do you recommend?
  10. Honestly I wouldn't mind being to at mx 4.5ghz
  11. I'm also assuming the list I posted above has something to do with over clocking ram or not?
  12. Because I just had an issue where I got "no signal" I took out my ram put it back in and it booted ? Also I appreciate all the responses. Very helpful.

    Anyone who can tell me the next AMD cpu and motherboard I should get would be awesome

    Wait for the AM4 platform it should be out fairly soon with Excavator based cpus/apus and then Zen by the end of the year.
