Can faulty ram cause Computer to freeze.

I installed a new Windows 8.1 today

Tried 3 times.

2 times it freezed while installation.

I was lucky enough to install windows on the 3rd time.

I am pretty sure that My ram is faulty.

I have a XW6600 Workstation in which the motherboard is capable of 8 ram modules.

I have 1X8 gb ram modules.

The problem is that the computer freezes.

I just want to know if The ram could cause such a problem.

In answer to the question yes it can.
So you should run a memory test on your memory in the computer.

The other causes if using a Dvd disk ect.
Scratches on the disk. or the Dvd you are using may need the laser pickup lens cleaning.

    Just as I thought

BTW I did not use a Dvd ,I used a Bootable Flash Drive.

    Thanks for answering ?
  3. Might also check that you have the latest BIOS? If the BIOS isn't tuned for the DRAM it can run it at sloppy timings causing problems
