no post beep or display after installing new graphics card

I upgraded my graphics card from a GTX 560Ti Hawk to a MSI Radeon R9 390x and after installing it and turning on the PC I get no post beep or display. The graphics card powers up and the fans spin up, everything else appears to be running normally.

I have put the old graphics card in and everything goes back to normal.

Any ideas?

  1. What power supply are you using and are you using an adapter to power your graphics card as lack of power can couse your graphics card to not post but still have the fans spinning also have you tried plugung in the new graphics card but but your display cable into your motherboard to see if you can use intergrated graphics and see if it reads your graphics card. Thats what i reccoment you try good luck
  2. I am using a Cooler Master GX 650W power supply. No adapters being used either. I will try using the integrated graphics now. Thank you

Ok, so I installed the new graphics card, and connected my monitor to the intergrated graphics and still got exactly the same results, graphics card powered up, fans spun, no beep.

Well if thats the case then you probably got a faulty graphics card if you can try testing it in someone elses build but if its not that then its something else that is unknown to me

Well apparently all I needed to do was update my motherboards bios that hadn't been updated in over 3 years :\
    So problem solved :D
