  1. if it a new build make sure the mb chipset drivers are installed and the gpu drivers are installed and windows sees the gpu as the right model. if the mb has both onboard video and a gpu go into the bios set primany display to peg/pci and turn on muilt monitor support this will turn on all video ports.

Did all that but it still didn't work :p
  3. make sure download the newest bios file and update your mb using the bios updater inside the mb.

The cable is mini hdmi, if that would make a difference.
  6. Have you tried adjusting the screen resolution on the TV or monitor that it is being plugged into. The max resolution is 2560 x 1600. It could be possible that the resolution for the hdmi output is set too high for the monitor.

How would I do that? Lol I'm a noob to this kind of stuff
  8. The easiest way to test this out is to plug both the vga input and the hdmi input into the monitor or tv in question at the same time. The video card should see that you have two monitors plugged in.

Make sure that you are on the vga input for the monitor
Right click on the desktop and click on Display Settings
You should see two screens showing 1 and 2.
Make sure that the vga input and the hdmi input are on the same resolution.
If they are not adjust the hdmi to the same resolution as the vga
Now switch inputs to the hdmi and see if that helps.
