New PC Build - Keep Default Bios Settings?

I am building a PC with an Asus motherboard. Is there a reason to change default Bios settings? (other than boot sequence).

Thanks.

  1. In general, no, there's no reason to change the BIOS settings these days, most will take care of themselves. You may, on occasion, have to do things like adjust the memory timing or some such, but unless you have an issue with something running properly, or you're overclocking, you should just leave it alone.
  2. 100% yes make sure your memory is running the proper speed and timings.
Depending on the memory you buy it could default to 1333 or 1600 so you would not be getting the performance you paid for.
