PC shuts down when playing intensive GPU games

My computer turns off when playing games that have really intense graphics (Oblivion with ENB and a ton of graphic mods, Fallout NV with tons of graphic mods, PCSX2 KH2FM on 6x Native, etc.) A lot of people that have run into this problem have blamed their PSU, but I believe my PSU is fine, as it didn't have this problem until after I got a motherboard, but the motherboard is almost brand new (3 months old at most). If it really is the PSU, I can understand why. I believe it is 6 years old now, but it's a corsair and I thought PSU were basically supposed to last forever.
My PSU is some corsair 750w, so I think it should be pushing enough power.

And here is a written list:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU: i5 2500k @ 3.30GHz
Ram: 8GB DDR3
Motherboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970
PSU: HX750W Corsair Professional Series

  1. Would you please list all the components of your current build, it is difficult to give you any meaningful feedback without knowing what hardware you are using.

That said, it certainly could be your power supply, as the are NOT designed to last forevor. Corsair also has a few unreliable lines, so just because the brand is Corsair doens't mean it is guaranteed to work well.

Sorry, my initial post had a messed up embeded image. My mistake. The PSU is an HX750W Corsair Professional Series

6 year old power supply? i believe you have found your problem.

some of corsair's newer psu's are of decent quality, but i've seen alot of older models crap out for no reason. really don't recommend anything power supply wise from them.

  6. You can check your event log and see what the cause of the crash was but as the others have said the PSU seems to be the issue. In terms of recommendations:
    XFX ATX 550 Power Supply
Seasonic S12-II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Wired Power Supply
EVGA Supernova 550 W Gs Gold 80+ Modular Power Supply Unit
