Adaptec 6405e SSD-RAID 1 (Boot) with GA-X58-UDR3 - Cannot use as boot drive

GA-X58-UDR3
6405e
Samsung EVO 500GB (2)

Windows 7 says that system cannot boot from this array (Adaptec 6405e) and that I may need to edit Bios settings. I have the array as first boot device in the bios, the array running correctly, etc.

I am sure that I should upgrade my system, but wanted to do this for now...figured this was not a wasted investment as I could use it on the new system.

Did this because the Marvell RAID (the only SATA 3 on this board) is not working with WIN 7 and the F6 driver load at windows install.... anyway have heard bad things about the Marvell.

More info: I am running two spinpoint drives in RAID 1 for the data setup using the SATA II Intel RAID controller (on board).

Bottom line: Is there a work around to make the 6405e bootable with this board or do I need to use a different board? (recommendations?) Or should I give up on SATA III raid with this board.

  1. It used to be that you need to mark the RAID you create as Bootable inside the Adaptec setup.

Not sure if that is still the case. I have not work with this controller.

This is set in the MB BIOS, and is already set that way. I can also do this in another installation and do it via the graphical UI, but I doubt that will work. Thoughts? It still mentions that you need to do this in the BIOS. Certainly cannot do a new install right now.
