Monitor and Tower LED Blinking

Ok, so I just finished the build and after getting everything set-up everything works fine. So I start downloading some programs and left the computer to let them finish I come back and both light are blinking and nothing happens I disconnect all the power plug all back in and turn on and it boots up fine and kept my progress. I'm just worried any idea why it would do this?

  1. Depends on the time you left it alone... check the Power Saving Options settings in Control Panel.. If the timing for Hibernation or Sleep mode coincides with the time after it happened, it must be normal and nothing to worry about.

If nothing happened when you pressed Enter, the space bar, etc. or moved the mouse, you may have to configure the keyboard and mouse in the Device Manager to "Allow them to wake the computer from sleep or hibernation"

Control Panel > Device Manager > right click Keyboard > Properties > Power Management = Enable Allow this device to wake the computer, do the same in the Mouse driver's Power Management tab.

Ok so I checked and the mouse and keyboard were already configured to wake it and the time was after 30 minutes it would sleep and I was gone that long but the mouse and keyboard didn't wake it. Any idea why?

edit: just noticed in my original of my retarded grammer. I meant to type both lights on my monitor and tower were blinking

    1. The BIOS also has power saving Sleep State options... See if you can find them and if they are set correctly according to the crazyengineers.com discussion.

    2. What is the monitor brand and model?.

    3. What is the motherboard brand and model?

    4. Are both lights blinking at constant intervals? (not coordinated but the same timing between blinks).. If not, can you detect a monitor blinking code.

    5. What colors are the monitor and tower lights? and are they different color from normal running lights?.

    6. Is the tower blinking with a different color than normal and which light is it, power or HDD?

    7. If you power off the monitor only, remove the power cord, press it's power button for 10 to 15 seconds, and power it back on, is there any difference?. Added this: Sometimes monitors have trouble waking up. Powering them off and removing power long enough for them to lose sleep mode helps. There may also be a trick to solve that without having to remove power.

    EDIT:
    8. The case power light (LED) is normal for some brand motherboards when sleeping, and you may or not be able to change that.
