Upgrade I3-370M to I5

Hi,

I wonder, is it possible to replace/upgrade existing I3-370M 2.4 GHz processor on Emachines notebook E732G, with Intel HM55 Express chipset to I5 or I7 even? Note: Processor is not onboard, it is possible to take it out.

If its possible, which I5 or even ilI7 processor is compatible with the board and chipset .

Thank you

  1. Upgrading CPU on laptop is tricky... you need to look for one with same architecture and same power needs.
Heres the info on your CPU http://ark.intel.com/products/49020/Intel-Core-i3-370M-Processor-3M-cache-2_40-GHz
  2. This processors are compatible with socket http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20G1%20(rPGA988A).html

So, by your opinion, which one is most suitable as upgrade replacement? Is it I5-480M, I7-620M or I7-640M?
  3. Is there any suggestion for my dilemma?

    Thanks
  4. Well you want the best of them all... otherwise whats the point of upgrading

  5. So, I7-640M is best option for upgrade?
  6. atleast in my opinion? btw what is your gpu? because as i know from some cases if your gpu is low end it will make it so your cpu wont work on its full potential (while gaming)
  7. Well, it is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550M 1GB DDR3. So i think it is solid graphics.
  8. yeah seems good enough to me :D
  9. I have a vaio with ATI mobility radeon hd 5650 and i3 370m, and I want to upgrade my cpu too, have you succeeded upgrading yours ?
