Restarted Computer. Got a CPU Fan Error... Should I freak out? If so how much?

So. Restarted Computer. Got a CPU Fan Error... Should I freak out? If so how much?

Don't know why this is a problem all of a sudden, I just got off 3 hours of Planetside 2 which is a very CPU intensive game. If there was a CPU fan error I woulda thought the mobo would of shut down by itself during that? Get off that for half an hour, turn my computer off for a few minutes, turn it back on, bam, CPU fan error. Only way I got it to load up windows at all is by exiting out of the bios menu which sorta 'got around it' (figure just using the browser til I get confirmation from you valiant experts wouldn't hurt it too much)

And yo, I booted off the side of my comp box, and the fan's still running? Maybe just the heat sensors gone 'temperamental' or something?

Now, I tried turning my computer off then vacuuming off the heat sink, didn't do it, turned it back on, same thing. So what do I do now? Ignore it? Don't play any games until I buy a new CPU Heat Sink/Fan? WHAT DO I DO MAN? Really wanna get in a bit of Mount n blade : Viking Conquest, addicted to it, but don't wanna load up a game til I hear from someone more knowledgeable from myself on the matter.

Took a couple pictures of my BIOS screen, hopefully that helps you identify what I've done wrong here unwittingly.

More about restarted computer cpu fan error freak
  1. Wouldnt worry about it I get it sometimes when I turn this on. I just press F1. It just means the RPM of the fan isnt fast enough
  2. this error is caused by your heat sink fan not being plugged into your cpu fan mother board
and to you last question third times the charm
  3. Can you visually confirm that the fan is turning as slow as your UEFI reports? Something on that screenshot shows *very, Very* hot. What is that?

Check the fan is plugged in, properly.

Your screenshots link to your entire photobucket library.

3 beers - that's your computer's way of telling you to take a break. :)
  4. Ah no mines in it does it often
  5. "this error is caused by your heat sink fan not being plugged into your cpu fan mother board"

Pretty sure it is dude? the RPM changes on the BIOS screen on the ASUS monitery app 'thing'. Hell its worked fine for like 2 years now?

And yo, me BIOS is version 1504. Newest one I found it 2104. Figure its time for an upgrade. Checked then and no officially supported ones for Windows 10. However IIRC most of me old drivers worked on W10 (been on the preview version for a while now), so would the 8.1 driver work on W10? Is that something I can do? (If I can figure out how to do it =p).

    What's a UEFI?

"Something on that screenshot shows *very, Very* hot. What is that? "

Uhh? Is that a good thing? That doesn't sound like a good thing. Thing on the left is CPU temp I think? According to the ASUS thingamajig the CPU is running about 38-40C right now, is that good? This link I saw on the forums makes me thing its 'ok' yeah?

Worked for me =S. Should be most recent 3 pictures in random pictures folder.
  7. that is the official reason, obliviously that's not the reason it may be a bad connector, at this point it could be several things but if it still works fine you should be able to ignore it and play games fine
  8. Oh man, me automatic bios update is taking sooo looong. Just says 'checking please wait', its been like that for 10 minutes. Might try manually updating it and cross my fingers n hope I don't kill everything (thats something I should do 100% sober though yeah?)

And yo, will I be able to run Mount n Blade without causing permanent damage? I just wanna chill out n bash things ey =p.
  9. "that is the official reason, obliviously that's not the reason it may be a bad connector, at this point it could be several things but if it still works fine you should be able to ignore it and play games fine"

Well its sunday now. It'll be fine until Monday-Tuesday when I can take it into the computer shop yeah?
  10. Well I'm gonna load up Mount n Blade n hope for the best. Wish me luck!
  11. Seemed to of worked, played for a few hours, still concerned about the CPU fan failure message. =S
