Strange hard drive noise(AUDIO INCLUDED)

I have two hard drives in my PC. both are seagate hardrives, one is at 1tb and the other 3tb both at 7,200rpm.

The 1TB hard drive had started making a bizarre sound a few days ago. its a feint sound and it occurs at random. I've used hard drive testing programs to see if anything was wrong, nothing came up. it tested them at max load and they all sounded smooth when at full load. however at very random times it will make a feint nearly static type of noise.
I have an audio file i recorded of it and tried my best to clean it up in post production. Its that hard to hear. sometimes its a little louder other times even quieter then this.
I cannot figure out a time sequence for when this happens. its pretty much random. No program or game i run will cause the sound, its just random.

Any idea's?

Unusual sounds from hard drives, that are not typical or are out the ordinary from what the drive has normally sounded like, are generally early warning signs of an impending failure. Some drive noise is normal, but if this is new it's likely a developing issue and I'd recommend you take action immediately to back up any data on the drive to another location. Drive failures can occur instantly and irrevocably, without warning, so I'd consider myself lucky to have had at least some indication that there was an issue.

Replacement of the drive immediately, or at least being prepared for the eventuality is the best defense you are going to have in case it does fail. Drives don't typically begin making strange noises for no reason so it's almost certainly a mechanical issue with the platters or parking mechanism.

Thank you. I figured the hard drive may have been failing due to the noise. the hard drive is 5 months old if that makes any difference.
  3. If it's only five months old I'd RMA it. It should still be under warranty if you have your purchase documentation.
