More about gigabyte 980 guru work
  1. I have a r9 280X by Gigabyte and the OC guru 2 software won't open either and it isnt just you and I it is a bug which Gigabyte has been trying to fix for ages and still haven't. If I were you I would use msi afterburner as I find it a better software than evga's but again it is up to you
  2. so double click on it then go to show hidden icons it should be there and double click it and it should come up
  3. and my led in my card works when it wants even if i have it set to on
  4. Same here, I just installed the G1 GTX 980 Ti with all the drivers and all everything but OC Guru II won't open.

yah like i said it could be in your task tray so the bottom right of your task bar in that tray over there. mines works fine and everything besides when i record using playstv the memory goes to stock if i record and the led is still messed up
  6. It's a bug in their software and they need to fix it because even if you show the hidden icons, it still doesn't work
  7. Mine used to work until a few day ago, it didn't change the LED's color at startup, went to the task tray (opens at startup) and it wasn't there also. tried opening it again and nothing would appear in the task tray or in task manager.

Now I have my gpu with a white light rather then the red as I like it.
  8. Hey i just bought 980 ti. Is this guru software worth it or is it buggy and i should use msi afterburner? thanks

I personally prefer using msi afterburner for overclocking and tucking things around. I only use OC Guru for changing the led color of the GPU's. However, at the end of the day its a matter of personal preference
  10. How do you change the colors? I can't find the option anywhere.

The led option should appear on the latest versions of OC Guru in the bottom left and bottom middle quadrants. https://www.google.es/search?q=oc+guru+changing+led+color&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=595&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwipwrrV5YfKAhVMfxoKHe1ZDWwQ_AUIBygC&dpr=2.5#imgrc=MQ7x2oV1LvVqVM%3A

You also need to take into account that you might need to change the led color configuration almost every time you start up your pc if you are use to turn it off as I am. Its not ideal, but as of right now its what it is...

If you are still having problems you might want to check your OC Guru version and your drivers version. This are some links that might also help you solve the problem in case you encounter additional problems:

  12. This oc guru is a joke btw. It cannot save a profile, therefore is useless. Plus it messes up ur leds if u just change settings 2-3 times.
  13. My oc guru started randomly working again a few days ago, I have made no changes to my computer nor have I re-installed.

Just a few day before this I had contacted Gigabyte "ok" support team and they weren't really understanding my simple program till it started working again. I replied to support ticket stating that the program was working and everything is fine now and they replied with the following:

    Quote:
We cannot determine what other software you may have running in the background which might cause it. Let us know if there are any other questions.
  14. get a custom bios to control the led, use msi afterburner for the rest.

Wondering the same because I am EXTREMELY angry right now.

I was running GTA V smoothly, wasn't paying attention to temps or fan speed at the moment, since temps escalated extremely quickly. I was tinkering with the settings to get a perfect 60 fps at 1440p. When suddenly I decided to put everything down a notch and I was asked to restart. When back to the desktop during the restart I saw my gpu temps in CAM at 88C (highest recorded: 91C)! I was outraged and I quickly force quit GTA V and I checked to see if OC guru was running, which it was but the fans weren't running correctly. At this point the fans were were going haywire. So I uninstalled OC guru and I started just using afterburner.

I wanna hear more about the bIos thing.
  17. I have managed to get my OC Guru 2 software to run now and can now control my lights on my Gigabyte GTX 970 Extreme.

I did a check on windows 10 "SFC /Scannow" and found that I had some issues that could not be fixed so reinstalled Windows 10 and did the scan again until it was clear. After that installed the OC Guru and worked fine from then.

I don't think there is a way to do that.

However on mine I noticed that once changed in the GURU software the colour is constant even when not in Windows so maybe it updates the card.

So could you put in another system and update using software and then when you put it back in yours the colour may have been saved.

Thank you so much. I went to my task tray and clicked the up arrow to show my hidden icons, and i dragged it out onto the task tray. I clicked on it and it launched OC Guru II perfectly fine. THANK YOU SO MUCH I've been dealing with this for 2-3 months now!!!

In my case oc guru was working only with win 7 64 after a lot of tests and formatting many time and now with no reason stopped working. No updates, nothing installed new ecc.... i've changed nothing and it stopped working then i've installe all the others brand oc software and they also run together at the same time (also if is useless but just for try) ! I've spend too much time with this software opened a ticket with gigabyte but it was a waste of time so i have a partition with only win 7 64 and oc guru 1.96 installed when i want to change my led color. The most stupid solution i have found sorry.
  32. Just stop using oc guru, its complete trash :P thats the solution i found after lots of testing :D

I've modded the bios with Maxwell tweaker and i can't see how to change led colors. Can you tell us how to do please ?
  36. Gigabyte does not seem to put a lot of forethought and/or upkeep into their software side of things in general... Not only is OC Guru unreliable but their "AppCenter" suite for motherboards is also touch-n-go as well. They've all but abandoned that software suite and any issues end-users have.

I had to RMA my Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming because it was not responding to anything in OC Guru (Guru was not keeping settings or crashing) and was also causing issues with my PC audio as well.

When I get my replacement card, I am using MSI's Afterburner and Riva Tuner exclusively for OC and fan settings and the LED will remain white. This is to avoid and prevent any issues.

Mine does the same. It runs as far as "Do you want this programs to make changes to this computer?..." Then, after "Yes", it just disappears from the screen with a beep.

G1/Xtreme Gaming Windforce LED "Potential" Fix Steps:

1- Close whatever OC program you use for your G1/Extreme Gaming
2- Download and install v1.98 of OC Guru II **NEW VERSION** http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/utility.aspx?cg=3
3- After you have OC Guru II installed, go the LED section and apply the LED setting(s) you want your GPU to display
4- Click "APPLY" and ensure that the settings adhere as you set them
5- Ensure that NO OC or FAN profile is set in OC GURU II when doing this/prior to step 4
6- Restart your PC to ensure the LED profile you applied stayed in-place/is working
7- IF the LED profile worked, and you are satisfied with the LED profile you have... UNINSTALL OC GURU II from your PC **KEEP THE DOWNLOAD FILE**
8- Your LED profile SHOULD remain in-place
9- If so, restart your PC to verify
10- If all is well, keep the OC GURU II v1.98 download file on your PC (as a matter of convenience) as you can rerun these steps, in order to change your LED setup whenever you choose to do so

These steps worked for me, as I use MSI AB for my OC and OSD. It may not work for you... If it does, great! If not, I cannot say what to do... Good luck!

I just wanted to check - does this continue to work after a full shutdown? In my previous experience with OC Guru II the LED's would stay the color you selected through a restart, but would be lost upon doing a full shutdown and cold boot. Note that I do not use Windows Fast Startup so I actually do real full shutdowns, not the hibernation method that Fast Startup entails.

Hey Qwinn remember me? I helped you put together your build last year. I was the one who suggested the Gigabyte 980 Ti's for your system. What a coincidence, we happen to be on the same thread almost 1 yr later.

Hey GKC! I absolutely do remember, and the advice you guys gave was fantastic. It really did turn out to be a killer machine. You know what the best part was? A few weeks after I had it assembled, I discovered NVidia 3D Vision. I'd never even *heard* of it, but I had everything I needed (well, besides the glasses and emitter, which were on sale that week, lol), including the ROG Swift, which I bought for the GSync but I've never used because you can't run it simultaneous with 3D Vision, which is *all* I use now, heh. It really is freaking amazing in most games, and Witcher 3 in 1440p 3D Vision would absolutely blow you away if you haven't seen it. Frankly, who needs VR?
