H97 Motherboard and Circle CC830 cabinet - CPU Fan not working error

Hey fellas,

I just upgraded my cabinet, the motherboard and the proc to a 4790K.

I gave all the connections myself. I connected the CPU fan to the right slot in the motherboard where it actually says CPU_FAN. However when I boot up the computer, it says CPU Fan not working.

I now enter the ASUS setup by pressing F1. It displays all the fans there with temperature display. Over there the fan shows up as N/A and after a few seconds it shows working and then goes back to N/A. This keeps happening on and off. So not really sure what the trouble is.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. Try putting the CPU fan into another fan port on the motherboard, try a 3 pin one.

This issue is there with some of the ASUS H97chipset based Motherboards. Read the following:
    https://www.asus.com/in/support/FAQ/1006064/

To address the CPU_FAN fan problem, ASUS has released a BIOS for those boards. Just check if your H97 board has any specific BIOS updates with description, "Enhance the compatibility with some CPU Fans"

For example, the ASUS H97 PRO has this BIOS update dated 06/03/2015 (6th March 2015) says:
H97-PRO BIOS 2704 - "Enhance the compatibility with some CPU Fans".

Check if your model has similar update, which may solve your problem.

Go to the motherboard product page > Select "SUPPORT" page > Click on "Drivers & Tools" tab > Choose your "OS" > Click on "BIOS" > check if a BIOS update related to CPU Fans exist.

    Update

You're welcome! Good to know that this solution really worked for you. Have fun!

    Cheers!
