How do I check if my motherboard has an onboard graphics card

Hey, I am not sure, but I think my motherboard has an onboard graphics card. If it does, does this mean, I can't apply a dedicated graphics card to my motherboard, cheers.

  1. graphic cards go into PCI express slots. Even if you do have a on board graphics card witch about 99% of board do you can still install a graphics card.
  2. Ok thank you for the info my friend. So it appears to me, that I am able to add a dedicated graphics card to my motherboard. But, what's this PCI express slot stuff? And how do I check to see if it has those slots. ( sorry I am relatively noob) thanks anyways!

agreed do this and we can also see if you have a 2.0 PCI express or 3.0
  5. Thank you people, but, I've realized my CPU is pretty bad... Its like 2.1 GHz. Therefore, the CPU would be the bottleneck... I probably won't buy a new graphics card... As it will limit my performance? and the new graphics card won't really have an effect? I may be wrong..
  6. The X38 is a socket 77 mobo, and has a pair of PCI-E 2 slots, so yes you can add discrete GPU
