Unusually high idle temps on i5-4690k OC'ed to 4.0GHz with Hyper 212 EVO?

Title says it all.

I'm getting ~35C with a Hyper 212 EVO on idle on an i5-4690k (used OC Genie to put it at 4.0GHz constant).

IS this normal? Will temps go down or stay around there even if I start playing games?

More about unusually high idle temps 4690k 0ghz hyper 212 evo
  1. That doesn't seem overly high for idle @ 4.0. And they will go up when you start playing games.
  2. Whats your room temp?

Also what clock/voltage is it idling at?

Why did you let it do it automatically instead of manual? =D

If you start gaming expect it to hit 55C+
  3. That does seem high. I'm idling at 26 deg C @ 22 deg ambient. Gaming load puts me at about 40 deg C.

Not sure how to break it to you, but there is something wrong with your temp reader.

That is physically impossible with air cooling. Unless your air feed is from a refrigerated box xD

    at 19C room I idle at 31C, cores idling 800mhz 0.8somethingvolts

    hits 56C at 4.6ghz 1.225v when gaming.

It would only be impossible if it was below ambient ;)
Not at my rig ATM but my voltage is lower than yours, 1.165V iirc as is my OC of 4.4 GHz.

edit: Also have a blower style video cooler, makes a big difference in case temps and therefor component temps. If you don't mind being deafened lol.
  6. Well you need to enter your pc to the guinness book of records, I dont even know a water loop that can keep within 4 degrees of ambient temp.

Let alone a budget orientated hyper212 evo.
