Using GTX 970 ATC 2.0 and another, much cheaper graphics card- will this add any performance boost?

Hello, my question is, if I have a GTX 970 ATC 2.0 and a cheap PNY graphics card which I can't remember the type for the life if me (it cost around $60), can I put both in my computer and expect better fps for games and what not, or will they not work together?

  1. No, sorry they wont be able to work together in SLI. You can have both cards active, but the game will only use the gpu that the monitor is plugged into. What is the model on the PNY card?
  2. The only thing you could do is to use the second card as a physx card if it is also an nvidia card, but you won't see much of a performance change there

    It's a PNY GeForce GT 730
  4. Yeah, you can get a special modded type of video driver that lets you run the 730 and 970 is SLI. Heres a link- http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/
  5. Not sure if there would be much of a performance increase though.
  6. I reckon give it a go. There is no harm trying. Plus it will be a good experiment. Let me know if you need any help or if you have results. :)
