Motherboard with add on PCI Slot Riser Cable

I have a K7SEM Motherboard. I'm experimenting a bit. Purchased a dual PCI Slot Riser Cable which plugs into one of my PCI slots. I attempted to use both PCI slots. I had a report from the motherboard that it didn't have enough resources to run the second card on the riser. Is there any way to add more resources. Or am I chasing stupid ideas with this? Curious and serious as well!

I would suspect an interrupt request (IRQ) conflict. Both cards on the PCI riser may have the same IRQ if the board assigns the IRQ based on a per-slot basis. You would need to manually set your IRQs either in the BIOS or with jumpers so that the two cards' IRQs differ. More information about that topic is available here.
