Overclock FX-8320 to 4.5GHz and Prime95 fails 2 of the cores. Please Help!

I have an AMD FX-8320 and I OC'd to 4.5GHz and 1.4250v. Mobo is ASRock 990FX Extreme6. Prime95 small FFT test fails worker #7 and #8. 650w Rosewill ARC 650 PSU. I have disabled coolnquiet, APM, etc

  1. Not meaning to cause offense but if you don't know what to do after Prime95 is failing tests you probably shouldn't be overclocking yet.

Prime95 dropping workers indicates instability in your overclock, you can either add more voltage if your temps allow or back off on the multiplier untill you can pass prime. I think 1.55V is the max but you don't want to be going near 1.5V unless you are running good / water cooling.

If you do add voltage do it in small increments, don't rush it.

This is probably the best guide to follow:

Yes, you don't have an Asus board but most settings should be the same or just named a little differently, you can always google the setting you don't understand or ask here for help with it.

1.425v to me seems like a lot just for 4.5ghz, i know every chip is different but my 8320 did 4.5ghz well under 1.4v, can't remember exactly voltages for 4.5 but it did 4.2 at 1.3v.
I would start from scratch, reset to defaults and move up from stock speeds/voltages slowly.
I also suggest using AIDA64 for stress testing rather then Prime95, it puts a more realistic load on the cpu, plus you can monitor temps/voltages all within the same program.
