Thinking about water cooling cpu for overclocking

I was thinking about getting this "aio" water cooler this summer so I can overclock my i7 4770k. The thing is I have a ton of questions like. What is the chance of it failing? what happens if it fails when I am in the middle of a game? will the pc just shut down and the cpu start to cool off again or will my cpu burn out and die? what is the chance of leakage?
Just any information any one could give me would be great.

    The chances of leaking or failing depend on the product, some are better quality than others.
    If it does die during load, the CPU should hit cutout temp and the system should shut down. Though these are should, there is always a change it won't happen fast enough and the CPU with get damaged or die.

    In my mobo bios I can change the temp at when it shuts down so could I lower the temp so if it fails and its that it could stay safe right like if i lowerd it to 80 instead of 100
  3. I believe you can adjust the CPU cutout temp yes, it will improve the chances of surviving a catastrophe. There are minimum fan speed controls the bios as well, and the pump which is the most likely to fail is run off this, if the pump dies the mobo should know about it and shut the system down.
  4. That unit (and it's lil brother) is the only AIO I can recommend. My son just installed on in his Enthoo Luxe ... he stress tested it 2 days ago to set up some base numbers for overclocking and it ran at 37C under full load.

    The Swiftech units use all copper high quality custom loop components. The CLCs like those from Corsair use cheap aluminum rads, weak pumps and copper blocks.... mixing aluminum and copper (mixed metals) in a WC loop is a big, big no-no and leads to galvanic corrosion. No doubt there are some inhibitors used by their efficacy deteriorates over time.

    Also, unlike CLCs, the Swiftech has a reservoir which allows you to monitor the level and if it drops, you will immediately see the problem.

    If you do nothing, the CPU will protect itself when temps get near 100C, as you indicated you can change the temp limit to whatever you see fit, but I see no need to go below 85 on an Intel CPU.

    yes thats why I chose it because of how well people recommend it and how i can change the loop and coolant and such and it lasts longer then other aio coolers
