What is better/newer than HDTune for checking general hard drive health and speed testing?

I recently saw a suggestion on here, but I lost the thread. Sorry if this is being asked for the 10,000th time.

HDTune is great and all, but it hasn't been updated in years. Is there a newer, better option that is free?

More about newer hdtune checking general hard drive health speed testing
  1. I prefer CrystalDiskInfo, smartmontools and HD Sentinel for SMART reporting.

I like HD Tune for its benchmark graphs.

I prefer HDDScan (Windows) and MHDD (DOS, better) for surface testing. Both programs identify "slow" sectors.
  2. Thanks for the input folks! Will try a few of these.
