i5 2500 @3.7Ghz bottleneck

Will an i5 2500 @3.7Ghz bottleneck a GTX 970 or an R9 290/290x? I have 8gb ram and a 550w xfx PSU, so I dont think these will be a problem. Please help. Thanks in advance

  1. No it will not, not likely at stock speeds either. Is there any reason you stopped overclocking @ 3.7? Are you still using the stock cooler?
  2. No, it won't bottleneck.
  3. No it will not bottleneck with any gpu listed.

Won't bottleneck for sure, i have an i5 2500 as well and it is @ stock core clock, GTX 970 would be a nice choice, best bang for the buck, but if you have additional budget, 290x will be good also

I stopped because thats the end of turbo boost. Can I overclock further even if its locked?
  6. sorry I thought it was a k model. Yes you can overclock it further using the bclk, I wouldn't do that, it's hard to get stable and the performance increase is nearly worthless. My mistake.
  7. No problem thanks guys!
