Random FPS drops and stutter for some games. High end gaming rig

For the past three weeks, two games I have played regularly just decided to have FPS drops and stuttering. The games are Arma 3 and Mortal Online. I can play these games for about 20 - 30 minutes before the fps drops and stuttering occur.

No other games I play have this issue, just these two games. I reverted GPU drivers to see if that was the problem. I monitored CPU and GPU temps, perfectly normal temperatures.

Rig specs
-ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII Formula Motherboard
-ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II 3GB
-8GB Corsair vengeance Ram 1600Mhz
-650W Corsair RM-650 ATX Modular PSU
-i5 3570k @3.4Ghz
-Barracuda 2TB HDD 7200rpm
-Samsung 250GB SSD

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Yeah you have got a decent setup with a bad PSU. RM is not up to mark. I think that one is the culprit, try another decent PSU (AX, HX, TX from Corsair, XFX, Seasonic) just to test, if it solves the problem then you are in business, else it could be your GPU.

What would happen if your PSU can't cope with the load:

    •bad 3D performance
    •crashing games
•spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
    •freezing during gameplay
•PSU overload can cause it to break down

    Good luck.
