Building a Budget PC for CS:GO

Hello!

As the title states, I'm looking to build a PC for light surfing, some homework, and CS:GO. I want to say my budget is around $500, and if it's possible I wouldn't mind going below that. I already have a MacBook that I do the majority of my work on, so this doesn't have to be an over the top rig. This won't include the OS/Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse/Headset..As I already have these things.

The big thing here is that I don't necessarily need the game to look good, most of the time I will be running on low settings. I'm mostly looking for performance when it comes to this game. I want to be able to run 150 fps at the very least. I will be running with a 144 Hz Monitor, so it's very crucial that I get anything above 150 fps consistently.

I would also like something with a decent amount of storage. A 500GB HDD should do the trick.

If anyone can give me some suggestions or a link to their build on pcpartpicker that'd be awesome!

Thanks

  1. @ 500$ budget, you shouldn't expect anything over 40ish.... Especially on a 144hz monitor. YOu should increase your budget to maybe 700$ atleast
  2. Really? Interesting.. I've seen people with stock builds with integrated everything run atleast 70 fps.. Thanks for the input though. I'll definitely look into this.

I think the person was talking about more demanding games like BF4. Getting CS:GO to run at 144FPS is quite easy. Give me about 10 minutes to make the build, brb

This should get you 144FPS on max settings at 1080p. If you did want to play BF4, expect 45FPS on high settings at 1080p.

Thanks Alex, this is exactly what I'm looking for! Only other games I'd possibly be playing are ones such as the Telltale games, Civ, and maybe borderlands? But they'd be running at low settings too. Thanks for the help!

No, I don't mean more demanding games, I mean the monitor. You won't get 144fps on a 265, yet alone an 270. Plus, you have a 144hz monitor. so your GPU is prob gonna die. I mean if you want, go ahead with the build, but I highly doubt you will be happy.
