I need help setting up a 500$ computer for a friend of mine

My friend is looking into getting a computer to help him with streaming twitch more efficiently, maybe plays some game later on, and for school; so it needs to be a nice portable case.

Approximate Purchase Date: 3 months

Budget Range: 500-550$

System Usage form most important to least important: Twitch streaming, basic video editing, HD videos, gaming, schoolwork

Are you buying a monitor: No he will be buying one at a later date with separate money.

Do you need to buy an O/S: Yes unfortunately

Preferred website: Amazon, newegg, outletpc; anything thats very legit and offers great deals

Location: New Jersey

Parts Preferences: Nothing really, just looking to see whats out there. Best for the money

Overclocking: No, just looking for a very beginner friendly computer for him

Sli: No

Additional Comments: He wants a smaller simple case that will get the job done, something smaller than your average mid tower, such as bitfenix protigy.

Reason for upgrade: He's streaming twitch through his xbox at the moment and hes gained a bit of followers. A computer would greatly increase what he could do with his twitch account. Plus he is looking to go off to school in the fall so he will need a nice portable one for schoolwork.

Thanks

More about setting 500 computer friend mine
  1. Why not just get a used laptop?
  2. If you have to ask other people on a forum to build your friend a PC, maybe you shouldn't be the one advising him..

I appreciate your feedback, but truth is I like building them. I recently built mine in the summer but my price range was substantially higher so I was looking at wayyyy different parts for the money. I'm just starting to get my foot in the door on these lower budget PC's so I was just trying to get something to look off of so I could further understand what I am getting into. It would not be the final product, just an example.

Fair enough. Good luck and happy building.
