tr2 power supply installed in my lenovo h50 90b70017us and it's not turning on.

I put this power supply in just now and my computer won't turn on. No matter what combination or wires I try nothing works. Any ideas why?

  1. Sure thing. Because this PSU is absolute crap. See this list:

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

It is tier FIVE, the worst possible quality. It could potentially be that you did not connect it correctly, but since it is so awful do not use it no matter what. Get a decent one ASAP, from tier 1, tier 2a or tier 2b.
  2. Ok, I'll replace it with something else. But would the fact that it supports Intel i7 and 5 like it says on the box And my computer has an i3 processor have something to do with it? Also the connectors it comes with has more pins than the original power supply. 20+4 instead of 14

No, nothing to do with it.

All mothern PSUs have 24 pins. How many pins does your motherboard have? What model is it exactly after all?
  4. Well the original power supply had two connections labeled p1 and p2. P1 is the 14 pin plug and p2 is the 4 pin for the 12v spot i think
  5. And it's a lenovo h50 90B70017US

Phew. It is an old AT/LPX standard, you cannot use an ATX power supply with it directly, unless you get an adapter from 24 pin ATX to 12 pin AT (it is not 14 pin, mind you). Either that, or you will need to get a replacement PSU from the original manufacturer by contacting support. That's one of the reasons pre-built systems can be a headache. Many strange design decisions.
  7. I would also like to add that if your power connectors are indeed 14 pin, it most likely means that they are completely custom and proprietary - you cannot do anything here except getting an original replacement part from the manufacturer.
