How to stop Monitor Resolution Notice Error

I have the same error windows xp pro service pack 3 computer with a Nvidia geforce 9800GT monitor. I checked and both my computer and my monitor at set to resolution 1280x1040. I tried going to the monitor setup menu but there is no way to disable the Resolution Notice. I also tried to find the option of selecting button 1 or 2 on the monitor - no luck. What do you suggest to stop this error? I also tried to check in the Nvidia manual but nothing was listed..

I suspect the OP is referencing the "Recommended Resolution: ABCD x ABCD" popup which is hard coded in the monitor and cannot be disabled or changed.

1280x1040 is not a proper resolution, it should be 1280x1024. Make sure that is the correct resolution for your monitor.
That message does not come from Windows, but from the monitor, you need to check in the options for the monitor to turn it off. Look for a manual online for it or check with the monitor vendor.
