What is the cheapest way to buy a copy of windows?

I am looking to get a copy of windows as it has been announced that there will be a free upgrade to 10 as long as you have 7 or newer installed. So I was wondering what the cheapest way is to get a copy of windows, home premium or professional as long as it is 64 bit I don't mind.

OEM from newegg, etc. I think it's outletpc.com(?) that sometimes has it $10 off so it's $89 instead of $99. I'm actually getting excited for win10. 8 didn't really bring anything new to the table so I had no problems staying with 7. But from what I'm hearing about 10 shows promise.
  2. Dont get busted. Windows 10 Upgrade will be free, but updates will only be free for 1 year. So... you will eventually have to buy Windows 10 (unless you dont want updates).

Thus making it a yearly subscription basically. Resist!
  4. 0# Windows 7 can be used in trial mode for approximately 120 days, if you don't have cash now (google it)

1# Student editions if you attend a university that has a deal with Microsoft.

2# Microsoft direct student discounts, requires an active .edu e-mail address

3# Discounted / free upgrades from Microsoft (Windows 7 to Windows 8 pro was $15 for 6 months) Windows 10 upgrade will be free apparently for one year from an existing Windows 7 or 8 installation.

4# OEM copies for Windows 8.1 are nice. This is a perpetual single machine installation. (As long as you only install it on one computer, you can install as many times as you want) Windows 7 OEM licenses are tied to the motherboard.
