Preinstalled Windows 8 Create a Boot Drive

I want to clean install Windows 8 on my desktop, that came prebuilt with Windows 8 preinstalled with the product key stuck on a sticker to the side of the tower.
I need to boot from a USB but when I tried Microsoft's free tool to make a boot file it returned this:
"This product key cannot be used to install a retail version of windows 8."
There is a "Create a Recovery Drive" tool on my computer, could that be used to boot so I can format and reinstall Windows?
If not, how do I get a boot file?

I'm not very tech savvy so thank you for bearing with me.

Usually there is a recovery partition on OEM computers that can be used with the create recovery drive to create a bootable usb stick for example to restore to factory defaults. This will restore the computer to the state it was when you received it.
