How to know if a graphics card works with my computer?

I am wanting to know what graphic cards will be compatible with my computer. Learned today that my card does not work with directx 11, so I am needing to upgrade, but no idea what works with what.

This is my system information, hoping thats the correct stuff needed.

One I am specifically looking at right now for my price rand would be an EVGA GeForce GT 610, or models about there.

Anyone able to help?

  1. A GT 610 is too weak for gaming. A GTX 750 or 750 Ti should be much better, depending on your budget.

Thats not what I am asking for however... I am currently running a GTX 285, and its been MORE than enough for gaming.

So please, stick to the question.

EDIT: But if it pleases you, I can obtain a GeForce GT 740 within my budget.

I thought you were asking for a GPU similarly priced to a GT 610. But if you want a better GPU, then a GTX 760 should work good. Your CPU would bottleneck anything above that, though.
