Monitors lose signal, GPU fan speeds up, and computer crashes.

Hello!

My specs:
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 120gb SSD
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
DVD: Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner 24x
CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.06GHz LGA 1366
MoBo: ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366
Graphics Card: GIGABYTE GV-R685D5-1GD Radeon HD 6850 1GB
PSU: CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W
RAM: Patriot Viper II Sector 7 Edition 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Heat Sink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

Now this happens completely randomly, I could be playing a game, I could be browsing the web, I could be in Safe-Mode, I could be STILL booting up Windows, but my monitors will lose signal and my GPU fans will max out. I have tried updating my BIOS, updating Graphics Drivers, etc.

What is weird is that this has been happening for months, but sometimes it happens so rarely it is negligible...but then it happens quite often and it gets unbearable. At this moment is happening a LOT. I cannot seem to find a pattern with it.

A couple months ago one of my GPU fans started to make a noise...and it was annoying...but yesterday I took it apart and WD40 it and now it stopped... but still the same problem.

I am not sure if this is relevant.. but my +12v line read from CPUID is always at a 13.5+ and my +5v line is never greater than 4.4.

I have tried unplugging some fans...some USBs....

There was a time where the red light came on indicating something was wrong with my GPU...and my computer did not ACTUALLY crash, because music was still playing.

If there is any more information I can give, let me know!

  1. I am still having this problem... I thought I had resolved it by unplugging one of my fans on my case..but after a week of working, it just happeend again. So I am still stuck with this problem. Although, I am not sure if I have noticed this before, but it seems consistently that the red light on my MoBo, notifying that something is wrong with the graphics card, is lighting up when I lose signal to the monitors. Which if I remember correctly, it would not show that light every single crash.
