Microphone not detected; Gigabyte GA 78LMT-USB3

mobo; GA 78lmt-usb3
Rear panel line out ; 3 channel speaker
webcam: Logitech usb webcam plus microphone
Front panel: Logitech headphone+ microphone

Software(Device manager):
ATI HDMI Audio
HD Webcam C 270
High def audio device.

Installed all software from mobo installation CD:
Realtek
Via HD audio UAA driver
skype unable to detect front panel microphone.
But headphone test OK.
Via audio deck settings:
Default rear panel line out
Headphone: Redirected.

  1. Make sure your Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Manage Audio devices shows the microphone when it's plugged in.

    You might have to install it's drivers if it's an odd microphone.

    I would also like to add, I was able to make the front panel audio jacks work, by tinkering around.

  3. I changed the default audio to front panel(Windows 10).
    Now I installed Ubuntu 1604 on a separate hot swap disk; again I find only the back audio working. I will figure out something...
