Insane disk usage

So for whatever reason I've been having this problem with my laptop for a while now and could never really have it resolved and it's really beginning to bug me.

The problem is, when I have a program running (this will randomly happen with many different programs) my whole computer will slow down and start operating at insanely low speeds. I naturally check my task manager only to realize my disk usage is at 100%. I looked at the percentages everything was using up and tried closing the highest up on the list (80%) only to have the program below it and so on take it's place in %. They literally moved up the list and I have no clue how this works or why it's happening. I've already tried increasing the memory through control panel (minimum to my amount of ram and the max to double the size of my ram) as per windows 8 support forum but to no avail.

If you have any idea or any suggestions to fix my problem I would be extremely grateful! :)

Download a program called "HD Tune". It will tell you the health of your hard disk along with other stuff. Then report back here.
  2. Alright, I downloaded HD Tune and checked it out.
On the very bottom of the window it says that the health status is "ok" and the status of everything in the health section is at "ok" as well. Here's a screenshot,

    Health: http://prntscr.com/462ge3
  3. i would check if you have not a virus that work in background doing a full scan without network .
  4. I would recommend you to search on google, "monitor disk usage on -place operating system here-"
