Upgrade GPU, now PC won't sleep or turn off

I just recently upgraded my GPU from a 5970 to a 7950, and now my PC no longer wishes to go to sleep. I tried re-seating the graphics card in 3 different PCIE x 16 slots, but nothing changed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers as well, but that didn't make a difference. I'm at a bit of a block as for what to try next. Any suggestions from someone that's been in this situation or knows how to remedy it? It was working flawlessly prior to this, and there haven't been any other signs of system instability.

And more specific build specifications as well:

Phenom II x6 1100t @4ghz (it's been stable for over 2 years)
16 gb RAM 4x4 GB at 1600 mhz
Win 7 64 bit
Sapphire 7950 HD
Cougar 850 Watt PSU

  2. Okay dokie. I threw my old GPU back in and now it sleeps again. Contacted the company and they recommended an RMA.
