Power supply recommendation/requirement?

Rig:
i5 4670k @ 4.5 Ghz
Asus Z87-A mobo
Asus R9270X-DC2T-2GD5
Intel ssd
Corsair cx600

I'm planning on getting another 270x to add to my build and I'm wondering what wattage of PSU I would need. Anyone have a recommendation? And it needs to have 4 6 pin connectors right?

Thanks in advance!

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a case that I would be able to put another gpu in the very bottom slot of the mobo and have room left between it and the PSU?

  1. 750w is plenty. Don't buy another CX unit form Corsair though. They are average at best and made with poor quality capacitors. Stick with XFX, Corsair (not CX), Antec, Seasonic,

    Thanks, I was thinking 750-800.

I would go with a Corsair (HX, RM, AX or AXi) or a Seasonic ( X-series or Platinum series). Some Xfx and Corsair power supplies are just re-badged Seasonic units.

For your build I would say about 750W if that is gonna be your build and you don't plan on adding a higher end GPU at a later date.
If you do plan on updating to a higher end card and some overclocking go with the 850W.

No you don't need 4X 6 pin GPU power connections for one 270X, You only need 2X6 pin power connections. If you don't plan on any massive upgrades you could get by with a 650W, but if you can afford to and are going to upgrade, go with the 750W or 850W.
  4. 750w is plenty for overclocking the GPUs and the CPU.

Unless you are SLI-ing 780ti's or CF-ing 290x's 750w is more then enough.
