Can ddr3 2400 ram run on a motherboard that can only go as high as 1866(O.C.)

I want to order this ram because its good for the price but I dont know if the ram can run on the motherboard. My mobo says it can only go up to 1866(O.C.) but the ram is 2400. Will it still work?

  1. What mobo & CPU? Some like some versions of the Sabertooth line - list up to 1866 but can run much higher, also some can run faster sticks but have to be set up manually

With that combo, can prob run them at 1866, will just tighten down the timings and set up manually - if you head this way and need help, just give me a shout

Thanks! will the mobo automatically adjust the speed or do I need to mess with it in the BIOS?
  5. When first installed, it will go to the mobos default - prob 1333 - from their you can go into the BIOS and find the OC profiling for the DRAM - most AMD mobos use DOCP, EOCP and a few XMP - you'll enable that and initially try selecting 1866
