Asus EN6800 REV 1.00 GPU DVI Port Not Working

I have an Asus EN6800 GPU that I recently acquired from a friends old gaming computer. I was pretty stoked to be playing battlefield 2 no lag (I realize I am behind a couple of generations). Until I figured out my second monitor doesn't work. The main monitor is a VGA HANS-G that runs at a pretty high setting. But the non-working one is a DVI. I read on a very confusing post on the Asus website that something about SLI mode, drivers, and proximity to the motherboard won't let the DVI work right. I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with 1gb of RAM running windows xp home edition if that helps. Thanks everyone.

  1. Does windows and or the Nvidia driver recognize the second monitor at all?

Windows used to. Not anymore though for some reason. Nvidia recognizes a TV if I force recognition and restart PC. But I am not sure it that is the monitor. Thanks for such fast help!

That's most likely the monitor. Is the second monitor as cheap as the HANS-G? Some of this low end screens don't send proper identification strings. Try to force it by selecting the resolution and refresh rate manually.

I've tried two different monitors one is an emachines and the other is Dell I've tried changing resolution and refresh rate for both. Would the type of dvi port matter? I am using a converter cable from dvi to VGA. All monitors work on VGA

Yes, that matters! The card came with a DVI-to-2nd VGA adapter and I suppose it is a special one and two VGA monitors work only with the original adapter.

Would a DVI to DVI cable make it work? One of the monitors is DVI compatible. And last, is this graphics card a dvi-d or dvi-i?

dvi-to-dvi should fix it and gives you the better quality, because it is digital. The description on the Asus site says it is dvi-i, but I'm not sure it is a standard one.

Thanks so much for all the help! I'll see if it works.
