PC turns on then off repeatedly

Having a bit of trouble with my PC.

I just moved for university and took my PC with me, it's been working fine for the last 2 and a half years but after a journey in the car it doesn't want to work. I used it earlier that day with no problems.
It was never opened, just unplugged.

It will turn on for around 4 seconds and then off for 2-3, then back on and then off. It never stops until I turn off the power switch. All fans run and all lights are on. It just won't reach the BIOS.

I've tried a few different things;
Unplugging GPU
Unplugging Hard Drives
Using 1 stick of RAM at a time in different sockets
Clearing CMOS
Using different wall sockets

Nothing works :(

System Specs;
CPU - i5 2500k 3.3ghz
GPU - MSI GTX 560ti
RAM - 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws @ 1600mhz
HDD - 1x 120gb Sandisk SSD, 1x 1tb WD Caviar Black
MOBO: MSI P67-GD53A
PSU - Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 800w

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I just don't want to replace my mother board or any other part when I could be missing a simple fix.

Thanks

Transporting the system with the CPU heatsink (especially when heavy) installed is not good. I suggest buying some thermal paste, reseating the CPU, cleaning the old and applying new thermal compound and reinstalling the CPU heatsink.
Take the board outside the case for a better access.
Simple enough, right?
It would be also good to check the CPU socket for bent pins. Hoping for the best, though.

Have you tested your power supply unit to see if it is giving out the correct voltages.

If it isn't the PSU, I'd check to see if there are any electrical shorts inside the case or on any of the usb ports. Something like a bent pin in a usb port touching another piece of metal can cause a short and that short can make the computer reset.

This definitely sounds like it could be the solution. It's just the stock intel cooler which is pretty small and lightweight. Could it still be the problem? I'll need to buy some thermal paste and check this out. I'll report back if this is the case :p Thanks

I honestly have no idea how I could do this. Other than using another PSU which unfortunately I don't have access to without purchasing one.

I thought of the RAM being a possible problem, but all 4 sticks seem to be perfectly in place :(
Thanks for the reply

Here's a picture of the CPU and the Heatsink. I'm assuming it's not meant to be like this? It's really dry, it definitely can't be doing much.

Hey there!

I was home at the weekend and picked up a few things I'd ordered.
I bought a Corsair H60 (something I was going to buy anyway) and some new thermal compound along with the ArctiClean compound remover and purifier.

I've just finished installing the cooler with new thermal paste but the computer still doesn't want to start. The same thing is happening, on for a couple of seconds then off then repeat.

Everything is mounted correctly, I don't understand what could still be wrong :(

I just tested it there before I saw your reply. Still not working.
I'm going to try to get a multimeter tomorrow to test the PSU, but something tells me this is the board. I couldn't see any bent pins in the CPU socket when I put on my new heatsink though.

I appreciate your help :)

So I've managed to 'fix' the problem. I took my PSU into a local PC shop and they tested it for me in one of their builds. It worked fine.
With that I pretty much figured out that it could only be the board.
I ordered a new one, fitted everything and now my PC works again.

Still not sure what would have caused the motherboard to just stop working like that.
Anyway, I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions!

Thanks! :)
