Right,I just bought a brand new laptop,an asus n750jv with
intel i7 4700hq haswell 2.4 ghz
gt 750m ddr3 4gb
8 gm 1666 mhz ram
windows 8 64 bit
Right, please sit down and read this, cause it has been bugging me for 3 whole days!I'll try to give as many details as I can!
The problem is at it follows:I installed league of legends and world of tanks, installed the latest nvidia drivers for my videocard.
I set in nvidia control panel to use the nvidia graphics card, not the integrated intel HD graphics 4600.With world of tanks at 1920 1080 and minimum details,i get around 60-80 fps, which i MUST get all the time, and then it lag spikes and drops to 15-25 for no reason.Even when standing still and doing absolutely nothing,it drops and keeps lagging for 10 seconds, then goes back to 60-80(the absolute normal, the gt 750m DOES handle this game very well),then back to lagging.Increasing the detail level does add some lag.For example when pushing every detail level to maximum,it does drop to 30-40,but the lag spikes are still here.
SO,let's get something clear.Increasing certain detail levels does add some lag,but doesn;t remove the lag spikes.SO does the resolution.I've seen that below 1440 900 resolution with low details i don't get lag spikes.Increasing the res beyond the above one,all the way to 1920 1080 with low details does add the lag spikes.THe GPU is MORE than capable of dealing with this game on 1920 1080 with minimum details,i get on average 60-90 fps when not lag spiking. This is what it should be like.
The same is on league of legends.FUll HD res and max details, the game runs flawlessly.Every 2 minutes i get a lag spike for a few seconds, then back to normal. It's not as bad as on world of tanks, but still annoying.

The funy thing is,i activated the intel HD graphics for world of tanks, and on 1920 1080 res with everything to minimum, the lag spikes were gone!Sure, the fps was around 50,compared to 80 ,even 100 on the nvidia graphics card, but the lag spikes were gone.I tried increasing the details, but it dropped to 20,which is understandable.
So,the conclusion is there is something wrong with the video card(nvidia),because the intel HD can run the game flawlessly, while the nvidia, which is a beast compared to the intel HD,can not.I installed the latest graphics driver.
COuld windows 8 64 bit be the issue?if i remember well it was build 9200

I checked the temps,and the GPU is fine,around 35-50 idle,and 70,rarely 80 when gaming.
I've also noticed, when using msi afterburner, that when these lags occur,i get a slight decrease in GPU core speed.
I'll try to install windows 7 pro 64 bit to see if the lag is gone.

Can anyone help me,please?

Don't...

Hey guys, just joined up because I think I found a solution to this specific issue on my Asus N550JV laptop with the Nvidia 750M. I had been updating my Nvidia driver constantly through the GeForce experience, and was experiencing severe lag spikes, at low settings graphically, that would kill my frame rate for 5 seconds every minute or so, then pop back up fine. I went back to the most recently issued nvidia driver and I believe that has fixed my problem.

The driver is GeForce 326.83 in Nvidia GeForce Experience and driver 9.18.13.2683 issued 8/21/2013 in device manager.

The most recently issued drivers from Asus can be found at

Hi!
You probably already tried this but did you change your power management setting to be sure that Windows doesn't stop your graphic card to save power and are you in normal mode or high performance? I already had that issue with my desktop... Also I would recommand you using only the update that Asus is publising If they are like MSi, other update might not me able to work perfectly with your system (with my MSi GS70, I can't download the update from Nvidia, they won't install, I have to take them from MSi's website...)

Good luck :)

You want nVidia graphics driver Version V9.18.13.2683

Hopefully this fixes it, it seems like it has for me.
