(Help) Ati: Strange screen flicker in some games and in browser.

Hi I recently put together a new system (about a month ago) and I'm getting a screen flicker for about a half a second every 10-15 minutes with certain applications.

Just as an example of programs where an issue is present:

Sim city (2013)
League of Legends
Chrome

Examples where the problem is NOT present:
Starcraft 2
Dota 2
Bioshock Infinite
Tons of other games...

The worst one is sim city as it happens in that one a bit more frequently and it isn't limited to a simple flicker. Sometimes the screen will go to a black and white checkerboard pattern for half second.

Obviously its not much of an issue but I would still like to get to the bottom of it. System specs:

Sorry for the weird copy and paste from the partial dxdiag file. I couldn't find
where I could upload the entire thing. As a note I had the problem with my previous drivers as well as the newest ati beta driver 13.3.

I just noticed it says d3d9 overlay isn't supported that seems wrong?

More about ati strange screen flicker games browser
  1. Had similiar problems some time ago, i just unplugged the cable from the gpu to the screen and set it better and hasnt been flickering since.

    try also other drivers
  2. It does seem like drivers, but also check your directX installation through windows update as there are a couple of odd responses in the DXdiag report.

If Windows Update has none then it should be a clean DX install.
