AMI Drops Prices on StorTrends and ServTrends up to 40%
Flakey economies can bring about bargain-basement prices for those who have a few bucks set aside for a rainy day and if you're looking for a RAID enclosure or server appliance, AMI's new pricing may be just the recession sale you've been waiting for. American Megatrends just announced that it has reduced pricing for its StorTrends 1108 and 1312 NAS, JBOD, and RAID enclosure storage products as well as the ServTrends 1100 multi-purpose server appliance by up to 40 percent. The StorTrends 1108-J and 1312-J are 1U eight drive and 3U-12 drive dual channel Ultra160 SCSI NAS units (respectively). The JBOD units have multiple redundancy features, including hot swappable fans and hot swappable power supplies. AMI backplanes in both units offer Ultra160 (Ultra320 ready) slots and support for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) v0.9 and v1.0. IPMI gives IT managers access to platform management information and control features. The 1108-N includes AMI's Indium, a board, firmware, and operating system environment. The 1312-N has the ServTrends 1100-N custom-built sled chassis with a keypad, LCD display and LEDs enclosed around AMI's small form factor Indium. The ServTrends 1100-N and 1100-P can be integrated into an off-the-shelf case that supports standard 5.25" form factors, so that it can be added into your own NAS device, CD server, CD-ROM tower, optical disk library, CD/jukebox, or StorTrends 1312-N and 1312-P. The 1108-P, 1312-P and ServTrends 1100-P feature the Indium (or ServTrends 1100-P for the 1312-P) and AMI's NAS software, with Network File Protocols (CIFS, NFS), Network Transport Protocols (TCP/IP), and Hardware Health Monitoring. All AMI software lives on a network upgradable flash memory device, which leaves all the hard drives available for data. You'll have to contact AMI for pricing on specific products.
