AMD takes on the iMac

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Advanced Micro Devices will join the parade of pretty plastic PCs this month, when computer manufacturers start introducing colorful computers based around the company's chips.

In the latest attempt to capitalize on the color PC craze started by the Apple iMac, the new PCs will sport colored, translucent cases and novel designs. Those designs will include an all-in-one chassis that is a direct tribute to the iMac - one that may draw fire from Apple's aggressive intellectual property lawyers.

The inexpensive systems will be based on AMD's K6-2 chips, allowing manufacturers to offer the PCs for between $499 and $699.
