AMD shows off 1.1GHz Athlon
AMD tried to steal some Intel thunder by showing off a future Athlon chip running at 1.1GHz at room temperature.
AMD staged the demo in Palm Springs, Calif., across town from Intel's annual developers forum.
AMD plans to deliver 1GHz and faster Athlon chips in the second half of this year.
At its own event, Intel demonstrated forthcoming Willamette chips running at 1.4GHz and 1.5GHz.
