AMD ships 800MHz Mobile Durons
Tony Smith of The Register infers that Advanced Micro Devices is shipping 800MHz Mobile Durons due to an announcement from Sony Corp. The Japanese PC maker is promoting the latest Vaio notebook with "the new 800MHz AMD Duron mobile processor" with a 200MHz frontside bus, 128 kB L1 cache and 64 kB of on-die L2 cache. It will be in stores by early May and Smith concludes that the chip does not contain the next-generation "Moran" core which is due Q3.
