AMD intros SBC reference design

Responding to the quickly growing single board computer (SBC) market, AMD today released an Epic reference design kit based on the firm’s Geode LX processor. According to the manufacturer, the kit can speed up the development of SBCs that are targeting applications such as data acquisition, video processing, point-of-sale terminals, telecommunications, global positioning satellite (GPS) devices and motion control.

The platform consists of a Geode LX 800 with CS5536 companion processor, 64-bit DDR memory, eight MB SPI Flash memory, four USB ports, a mini-PCI slot, dual 10/100 Ethernet interfaces, as well as common legacy input/output connects. All components are embedded in a board measuring 115mm x 165 mm (4.5" x 6.5").
