AMD rolls out 900MHz Athlon
AMD has staged a public demonstration of its Athlon microprocessor running at 900MHz.
Two versions were featured in the demo:One uses the company's standard 0.18-micron process with aluminum interconnects, while the second is produced at AMD's Dresden, Germany, fab and features copper interconnects.
AMD plans to release an 800-MHz part next quarter and expects to break through the 1GHz barrier in mid-2000.
