AMD prepping 850MHz Athlon

Advanced Micro Devices plans to release an 850MHz Athlon processor in mid-February, according to The Register .
The device reportedly will be available in volume shortly after the announcement, and will likely to force rival chipmaker Intel to up the ante.
Both Intel and AMD currently have 800MHz versions of their Pentium III and Athlon processors on the market.
