AMD preparing largest chip launch ever?
As many as ten new AMD processors could make their debut as early as June 5, sources said.
The company reportedly will launch its new low-cost Duron processor, code-named Spitfire, on the same day it unveils its forthcoming Athlon chip, code-named Thunderbird.
Sources said the Duron chip will begin shipping at 600MHz, 650MHz and 700MHz in early June, while the Thunderbird chip, with 256 kB Level 2 integrated cache, will be available in 50MHz increments, ranging from 700MHz to 1GHz.
